Trauma Awareness Workshop
Trauma is increasingly recognised as playing a role in wider health concerns not only limited to mental health. In our working lives it is likely that we will, or have already, come across someone that is dealing with the effects of trauma.
This workshop is intended to raise awareness of trauma and it’s effects so that you will feel better equipped to help those who present with these effects in your practice or work situation.
We will cover:
The three hour workshop will be interactive and limited to a small number of 10 people. This will enable you to explore real world situations and feel better informed and prepared.
The course is aimed at practitioners who work with people, such as yoga teachers, bodyworkers and complimentary therapists. If you are not sure if the course is for you then just get in touch before booking.
This course is not a training to become a therapist and will not furnish you with clinical skills to deliver therapy. My aim is to give you knowledge, confidence and skills to know what to do if clients present with a trauma reaction.

Why study with me?
I have worked in the field of mental health for over 25 years in clinical and managerial roles, in inpatient, community and specialist areas.
I also have 25 years experience of practicing and teaching yoga. Yoga is not just a physical practice but is a model for improved health in all aspects of our human experience. Some of the practices of yoga such as mindfullenss can be key resources used in therapy.
My work in both psychiatry and yoga offer a broad, comprehensive approach. I am especially focused on the whole system including the body.
I am an EMDR Therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which is a a specialist therapy dealing with trauma. I am a member of the EMDR Association Uk and Ireland and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
